Soft washing and render cleaning

Render, pebbledash and painted walls go green long before anyone notices, because it happens slowly and evenly. It is usually worst on the north-facing side, under the gutter line and anywhere that stays damp. Soft washing takes it back to the original colour without touching the finish.

The pressure does not do the work — the solution does

Soft washing means low pressure and the correct cleaning solution, given time to work. The solution kills the algae and the surface rinses clean. It is slower than putting a lance on the wall, it costs the same, and the difference is that your render is still there afterwards.

What high pressure does to render

A pressure washer will blow the surface off painted render, drive water in behind pebbledash and lift the aggregate straight off the wall. On modern silicone and K-rend finishes it destroys the water-repellent surface, which is the entire point of the product. Patches blasted off render cannot be cleaned back — they have to be repaired.

What we soft wash

Rendered and pebbledashed walls, painted masonry, uPVC cladding, garage doors, conservatory roof panels and frames, and the shaded walls that go black rather than green. If a surface will not take pressure, this is what it needs instead.

It lasts because the growth is killed, not just rinsed

Rinsing algae off a wall gets you a clean wall for a few months. Treating it kills what is living in the surface, so it stays clean far longer. That is the difference between a job worth paying for and one you repeat every spring.
